Maw-sit-sit is a very rare intense green and black ornamental gem material found in the northwestern jungles of Burma, the same region of Tawmaw in the Himalayan foothills, where the world’s finest jade is mined. Initially, Maw-sit-sit was assumed to be a variety of jade, until 1963, when it was first studied and properly identified by the famous gemologist, Dr. Edward J. Gübelin.
